Ginetta G20 Challenge

"I have driven in many many different championships over my years as a driver but I can say with my hand on my heart that I have never enjoyed racing so much! I have never been in the heat of battle, dicing for the lead with a big smile across my face like I have with these and I have never driven anything where it is even feasible that I would swap places for the lead 6 times in one lap! You don’t get racing like this every day but you do seem to every day you race a G20.

And tell me where else can you complete a full seasons racing with this level of competition, media coverage, testing, tuition and with a professionally run team looking after you for anywhere near the 30k mark?" Rob Austin

ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP

The Texaco Havoline Ginetta Championship represents a low cost opportunity to race in a single-make racing series that provides entertainment for both spectators and the racer with modest running costs.

Because all of the cars are identical, it's up to the driver and basic car setup to come out on top. It's normal for four cars to be abreast down the pit straight coming to start the last lap!

The package supported the high-profile Formula 3 / British GT package over the past few years with TV coverage on Sky TV and a presence in motorsport media.

A 15 minute qualifying session determines grid positions for the weekend's two 20-minute races. A driver's fastest lap in this time is taken into account for race one's grid, whilst their second fastest lap relates to their starting position for race two.

For 2010, the G20 championship will see its name rebranded as the GINETTA CHALLENGE. The championship will once again provide close racing and low entry fees.

The 2010 season will be contested over 7 weekends in a mixture of one and two day events. The provisional calendar is as follows:

03 April - Oulton Park
May / June - TBC
03/04 Jul - Snetterton
17 Jul - Rockingham
14/15 Aug - Silverstone GP
25/26 Sep - Brands Hatch GP
16/17 Oct - Donington Park
