Historic Motorsport

The Historic racing scene is something Rob Austin Racing has become progressively more involved with over the last 3 seasons and is becoming a big part of the teams business.

Team principal Rob Austin threw himself and his workforce in at the deep end in 2007 when he agreed to completely restore a customers Triumph TR5 during an already busy season.
This involved the car being stripped to its bare shell and rebuilt with new chassis, all new welded in roll cage, engine rebuild, completely repainted and re-wired. The team met their deadline and did it in fine style, the old Triumph is now more a work of art than a racing car now.

After the TR5 project the team now have quite a portfolio of on going classic projects including a 1951 Chevrolet style-line deluxe road car, a 1978 Chevron Formula 3 car and its latest baby is a 1978 Surtees TS20 Formula 1 car.

Rob Austin has also competed as a driver in many historic events as a hired gun. Customers use his vast experience to help get them to the front of the grid in 2 driver races and up the value of their cars by adding race and championship wins to the cars history while at the same time learning how they can drive their car better and faster with constant support and advice from Rob.

To help cope with the growing historic side of the team Rob Austin Racing has teamed up with historic motorsport guru Rob Campbell. Rob has been involved in motorsport for as long as Rob (Austin) but his experience is more tailored to the historic side of things and his historic project portfolio makes Rob Austin Racing's portfolio look rather small.

Rob Austin Racing are excited about the extra capabilities and potential to take on more projects this partnership gives the team and look forward to expanding our historic operation.
